External temperature sensor (HOBO PRO Temp/External Temp) same accuracy and resolution as internal sensor (see plots above), but -40°F to +212°F (-40°C to +100°C) range and response time of 4.5 minutes typical in air; 0.2" diameter sensor on 6' cable (fits in 1/4" holes). The external sensor can be used outdoors in air or soil, but is not recommended for prolonged use in water.
